Thermal Panoramic Cameras

BRC has developed a unique optical modification and software manipulation method for obtaining a full 360 degree panoramic image from  a single thermal camera. Our approach can be applied to Thermal Bolometers as well as Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) cameras. Our adaptation hardware operates at ambient temperatures and the machine vision software achieves high resolution, high-contrast video.

Competitor’s systems require multiple camera units (typically four or more) multiplying power usage and requiring image stitching and other operations increasing system latency. Our system achieves a full panoramic view using a single camera at the lowest SWaP* and at a latency approaching the inherent latency of the host camera.

The following example shows screenshots taken with the thermal panoramic video camera in pseudo-color mode. The color selection can be shifted to set a particular temperature (and therefore a particular object) into high contrast.
