Emergency Landing Hazard Detection

We have demonstrated the feasibility of our CORE^TM AI machine vision system for alerting pilots of small fixed-wing aircraft to landing hazards.  The example scenes below are a compilation of the various types of landing hazards the demonstration system can detect.

This system runs in real-time at video rates and can be implemented in a low cost low SWaP, self-contained device.  Based on related research by the TBU it is clear that similar object detection performance is achievable for thermal imagers.  Using a BRC multi-band camera unit such as the one shown below, a day/night landing hazard system is achievable.
